Latin American Council of SELA advances in the approval of the Work Programme for 2023

The Latin American Council of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) met on Monday at the headquarters of the organisation, in Caracas, to make progress in the approval of the Work Programme for the year 2023.

During the XVI Special Meeting of the Latin American Council, the Permanent Secretary of SELA, Ambassador Clarems Endara, said that in the Area of Economic Recovery, 21 activities have been programmed, focusing on trade facilitation, SMEs, and Economic Integration. In the Area of Digitalisation, 7 activities have been planned for digital transformation and sustainable energy infrastructure, while in the Area of Social Development, 15 activities have been scheduled to focus on vulnerability of food systems, migration and comprehensive disaster risk management.

During the meeting, the Dominican Republic congratulated the Permanent Secretariat of SELA “for all the efforts made and the Government of Mexico for its excellent organization,” while expressing its clear support to the Work Programme proposed by the organization.

The outline of the Work Programme responds to the sustainable development objectives of Latin America and the Caribbean, which is part of SELA's commitment with its membership. The Member States endorsed the Work Programme proposed by the Permanent Secretariat of SELA, which will be submitted for final approval to the Latin American Council next November.

The Latin American Council is the highest decision-making body of SELA, which annually gathers its Member States to establish the general policies of the organisation and make specific pronouncements through decisions approved by consensus.
