The Permanent Secretariat of SELA expresses its condolences and solidarity about the earthquake in Haiti

The Permanent Secretariat of Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) regrets the human and material losses caused by the earthquake of magnitude 7.2 on the Richter scale, recorded on 14 August 2021 in the Caribbean nation.

The Secretariat stands in solidarity with the people and government of Haiti, and hopes for the speedy recovery of the victims who were injured and the affected communities, and expects that the brotherly Haitian people will overcome this emergency in the shortest term possible.

At least 227 people died and dozens were injured in the earthquake that had its epicenter northeast of Saint-Louis du Sud.
