The Permanent Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), Ambassador Lesly David, held a fruitful meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) of Cuba, Josefina Vidal, in which the authorities expressed their firm willingness to work together in promoting regional integration and cooperation.

During the meeting, they highlighted key areas for collaboration, such as food security, digitalisation, productive complementarities, and protocols for natural disasters. In this last area, Cuba emphasised its best practices, which represent a valuable contribution that can be shared with other countries in the region, especially those in the Caribbean.

SELA appreciates the openness and commitment of Cuba’s MINREX and reaffirms its willingness to continue strengthening this cooperative relationship for the benefit of regional development.
