SELA stresses the need to strengthen institutional cooperation to boost MSMEs

The Latin American Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CELIEM), the Central American Institute of Public Administration (ICAP), the Central American Integration System (SICA), the College of the Northern Border (COLEF), along with the School of Government and Public Transformation of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico, held this week the lll Congress MiPyme Latam Sustainability, Green Economy and Development Cooperation, in which the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) played an important role.

During three days, a panel of representatives from public institutions and organisations and private companies from Latin America and the Caribbean reviewed the strategies and programmes to promote the development of the MSME business system, with a focus on sustainability and green economy, as well as the initiatives and best practices that are being implemented by the public sector to boost the MSME ecosystem in the region.

SELA underscored the importance of generating public policies in line with the reality of MSMEs and the need to strengthen institutional cooperation to support strategies that favour the growth of the business sector and, thus, the productive infrastructure of Latin American and Caribbean countries.

Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, El Salvador are some of the countries present at the meeting, as well as representatives from Spain, the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB).

The lll Congress MiPyme Latam Sustainability, Green Economy and Development Cooperation is an initiative that has been conducted in the last three years with the aim of creating spaces to reflect on the challenges of MSMEs, including multiple experiences and visions, in this case from the perspective of sustainability, green economy, and development cooperation.
