SELA and IDB organise II Workshop on Public Policy Instruments based on Behavioural Economics

The Permanent Secretariat of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) have organized the II Workshop on public policy instruments based on behavioural economics, to be held on 10, 11 and 16 August with the objective of addressing the conceptual foundations and behavioural economic policies.

The workshop will be delivered in a theoretical-practical modality and is aimed at public officials in the region. This event will be attended by international experts, who will show the tools and application of behavioural economics, as a way to achieve better public policies, especially in the actions conducted against corruption through a behavioural approach.

Nicolás Ajzenman, Assistant Professor at the Sao Paulo School of Economics-FGV and affiliated researcher at IZA, will be in charge of the first theoretical session on the introduction to Behavioural Economics. The practical session will be led by Deborah Martínez, Senior Research Associate in Behavioural Economics at the IDB Research Department; Lina Díaz, Behavioural Economics Consultant at the IDB Country Department Andean Group (CAN/IDB); and Indhira Ramírez, Behavioural Economics Research Fellow at the IDB Research Department.

The second workshop will be a space to showcase best practices in this area, as well as a vehicle to train public officials in the region on the benefits of behavioural economics and its tools, as a way to develop better public policies, especially in the actions conducted against corruption.

The invitation is open to all those who wish to participate in the theoretical session, which will take place on 10 August, while the practical sessions will be held on 11 and 16 August, under closed call.
