Washington, March 11, 2015.- Officials from Brazil's Manaus Free Trade Zone met with the European Union's ambassador to Brazil, Ana Paula Zacarias, on March 3, 2015, to discuss potential areas of cooperation.

José Adilson Vieira, the Zone's Operations Assistant Superintendent, said that cooperation with the EU can bring significant benefits to the Manaus region, especially in the areas of science, technology, and innovation.

During the meeting Vieira highlighted the business and investment opportunities available at the Manaus Free Zone. In August of last year, the Brazilian Government enacted legislation extending the validity of the Manaus Free Trade Zone until 2073. The tax incentives of the zone had been due to expire in 2023.

A delegation from the EU is scheduled to visit the zone in May this year.
