Nicaragua reiterates support to SELA in the integration agenda

The Permanent Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System, Ambassador Clarems Endara, received on Wednesday the Ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Orlando Gómez, who reiterated his support to the organisation in its efforts towards the integration of the region.

The Ambassadors reviewed SELA's agenda, focused on building bridges to make some headway in the economic recovery of Latin America and the Caribbean, as part of the organisation's multi-annual work programme, as defined by the Latin American Council in November last year.

Ambassador Gómez stressed the importance of constructive cooperation to make some headway in the regional integration process. “SELA has our support in the integration process, which is a line of work of our government,” he said.

For his part, Ambassador Clarems Endara highlighted Nicaragua's fundamental role in the integration of Central America, following the economic achievements reflected in its indicators. He also stressed the need to define an agenda of issues to advance in proactive cooperation, together with the Member States.

Orlando Gómez Zamora was appointed Ambassador of Nicaragua to Venezuela, replacing Mrs. Yaoska Calderón Martínez, who was in office from 2018 to March 2022.

Venezuela and Nicaragua have been Member States of SELA since its foundation, and there is a relationship that nurtures the structure of cooperation mechanisms and political coordination in the Central American region through strengthened exchange ties, always willing to promote multilateral cooperation for more and better integration.
