SELA sponsored participation of officials in the Internship Programme of the Port of Santander 2022

The Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) participated in the Internship Programme of the Port of Santander 2022, as an international cooperation initiative aimed at providing professionals of the Latin American port sector with access to techniques, practices, management procedures and solutions developed in the Port of Santander, thus contributing to the improvement of training and the acquisition of new skills.

SELA, committed to promoting the integration of port activities in the region, nominated Elisabet Torres, SELA's Analyst of Economic Recovery, and Jesús Fabián Parrales, of the Port Company of Nicaragua (EPN). Torres and Parrales, from Venezuela and Nicaragua, respectively, participated in the academic experience, which is framed within the Thematic Area of Economic Recovery, Trade Facilitation Programme, Network of Digital and Collaborative Ports, which forms part of SELA's Work Programme for 2022 - 2026.

The Internship Programme of the Port of Santander 2022 is aimed at professionals involved in or affected by the digital transformation of the different areas of activity of ports. That is why SELA facilitated the participation of Torres and Parrales as a stimulus to human talent in the definition of the new professional profile required in the region, involved in the necessary digital transformation of ports.

The Internship Programme of the Port of Santander-Spain 2022 took place from 5 to 16 September, within the framework of the academic activities of the Menéndez Pelayo International University and represented a great opportunity to train professionals for the promotion and development of the Network of Digital and Collaborative Ports of Latin America and the Caribbean.
