Kingston, November 19, 2014 (PL).- Diplomats and professionals highlighted here the relations of four member countries of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) with Havana, on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of the establishment of those relations, official sources reported.

According to the Cuban embassy in Jamaica, teacher of the University of Havana, Jacqueline Laguardia, gave a lecture to students of the specialty of International Relations in this capital.

Invited by the University of the West Indies, the professional commented on Cuba’s relations with Latin America and the Caribbean, opportunities and challenges.

Laguardia specified that the international direction of her nation is coherent with its socialist ideology and answers to the continual attempts of isolation by the Government of the United States.

She added that his Government seeks survival of its social project and establishment of diplomatic relations at global level, while strengthening its alliances with developing nations and its neighboring countries.

She also explained the importance the Cuban collaboration with the countries of the Caribbean and the world and spoke especially about the medical brigade that are fighting the Ebola virus in West Africa. After a historic retelling of the relations between Cuba and the Caribbean, the professor presented that the policy of aggression sustained by the US Government against her country is the worst current hindrance to increasing and strengthening the Cuba-CARICOM relations.

After concluding her speech, she referred to importance of the next CARICOM-Cuba Summit, which will be held in Havana on December 8.
