The World Tourism Barometer published by UNWTO indicates that the arrival of more tourists enabled Mexico to improve its ranking to above Thailand and Turkey.
“We also moved up from 16th to 14th place in tourism revenue. Which is reflected in greater development, jobs and better salaries in this sector.

In this Administration, Mexico has had a growing, record upturn in tourism. The number of foreign visitors has grown by more than 50%.
- Mexico obtained $19.6 billion USD in foreign exchange earnings in 2016.
- In 2012, Mexico received $12 billion USD from foreign tourism, which rose to almost $20 billion in 2016.
- Tourism activity accounts for 8.9% of the national economy.
