OECS Ministers tackle core issues affecting East Caribbean Trade Performance

Castries, June 3, 2015.- Ministers recently tackled core issues affecting OECS Trade Performance at its 2nd Meeting of the OECS Council of Ministers on Trade matters held on May 28th 2015.

The OECS Council of Ministers on Trade matters held via web conferencing focused mainly on OECS Member States implementation of Article 164 of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas and also facilitated dialogue on issues such as:

- Strengthening the Commission’s capacity to monitor and assess regional trade performance The formalisation of trade relations and cooperation with the Government of the French Republic of Martinique.

- Preparation for an OECS Business Mission to Cuba.

The Council of Ministers is one of the principal organs of the OECS.

Pursuant to Article 9 of the Revised Treaty of Basseterre, the Council of Ministers is bestowed decision making powers which are binding on all OECS principal Organs and Member States except the OECS Authority which is the supreme policy-making organ of the Organisation.
