Castries, April 27, 2015.- The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) is seeking to take advantage of the opportunity to trade with Cuba.

OECS Director-General, Dr. Didacus Jules says due to the relaxation of tensions between Cuba and the United States, trade possibilities have become more feasible.

“For 50 years, the Caribbean has consistently stood by Cuba and the Cubans don’t forget their friends,” he began. “From the time of the CARICOM Summit even before the relaxation, the Cubans have been calling for the opening up of trade but because of various limitations of the blockade, that was not as easy to do as it was to call for it.

“Now that the relaxation is happening, there are huge opportunities for trade with Cuba; there are opportunities for export of certain goods and products,” Dr. Jules explained.

He says locally-made products are the ideal choice for export.

“When you look at companies like Bello and the quality of their food products, like pepper sauces we would like to have them exported actively”.
