SELA awards recognition to Chargés d'Affaires of Argentina and Mexico in Venezuela

The Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) acknowledged the work of Eduardo Porretti, Chargé d'Affaires of Argentina in Venezuela, and Mauricio Vizcaino, Chargé d'Affaires of Mexico in Venezuela, who are completing their diplomatic mission in the country. Throughout their impeccable tenure, both diplomats tirelessly supported SELA's efforts to promote the integration of its Member States.

During the event, which was attended by authorities and personalities of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, the Permanent Secretary of SELA, Ambassador Clarems Endara, stressed that the advice and support of both Ambassadors has been key to advance in the re-engineering and achievements of the organisation's Annual Work Programme.

For his part, Ambassador Mauricio Vizcaino, Chargé d'Affaires of Mexico in Venezuela and Chairman of the Latin American Council of the organisation, said: “For me it has been an honour to coincide with the change of the Permanent Secretary. I would like to thank SELA for the opportunity to chair the Latin American Council. We have worked intensively to make our region strong, present and without exclusions.”

Likewise, Eduardo Porretti, Chargé d'Affaires of Argentina in Venezuela, said he felt very honoured and privileged to have been on a diplomatic mission in Venezuela for more than six years. “These have been very intense years, and I have been able to witness the role of SELA as an integration mechanism to generate consensus. SELA tells us that the development agenda is the answer to the Latin American crisis; that is why we must support SELA,” he stressed.

Mr. Rubén Darío Molina, Vice-Minister for Multilateral Affairs and Integration of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, thanked the Chargé d'Affaires of Argentina and Mexico for their commitment to the well-being of Latin American and Caribbean countries. “SELA is present and has shown that unity within diversity is possible. The region has learned lessons and deserves it at this time. SELA plays a key role in advancing the integration agenda,” he said.
