SELA urges greater convergence to meet the 2030 Agenda in the region

The Permanent Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), Ambassador Clarems Endara, urged to work with greater convergence from the public administration to comply with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), within the framework of the “Forum on mechanisms for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda,” organized by the Latin American Centre for Development Administration (CLAD) and CAF-development bank of Latin America.

During his participation at the meeting, the Permanent Secretary of SELA reiterated the organisation's commitment to the economic recovery of the region, especially after the pandemic crisis and the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and detailed SELA's multi-year Work Programme, focused on three areas of work: Economic Recovery, Digitalisation, and Social Development.

He explained the linkage between SELA's work agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals and urged the public administration of the Member States to work towards greater convergence and integration of strategies in order to comply with the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development in the region.

The “Forum on mechanisms for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda” was held on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with the purpose of analysing the challenges to be overcome in order to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in times of pandemic; diagnosing the state of the institutional structure and capacity; and learning about the experiences in the implementation of institutional structures related to the localisation of the SDGs.
