SELA’s Webinar to discuss trade opportunities and challenges for Latin America in the post-pandemic era

Participants in this seminar will learn how to expand exports of knowledge-based services by building on the acceleration of the digital transformation and the reconfiguration of value chains on the road towards a new post-pandemic normality

The Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) will conduct a Webinar on knowledge economy to address the commercial opportunities and challenges for Latin America in such a relevant sector in order to overcome the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This activity will take place next Thursday 25 June 2020 at 11 a.m. (Miami time).

Knowledge-Based Services (KBS) stand out as one of the sectors with the greatest exporting potential in the world economy, and during the COVID-19 pandemic their importance has been associated with an acceleration of the digital transformation, the increased use of the “distance economy”, and the reconfiguration of value chains that will occur in shaping up the so-called new normality.

With the purpose of helping to overcome the obstacles faced by Latin American nations in their trade policies and promote the use of their potentials, SELA has proposed the conduction of this Webinar which will be given by Romina Gayá, who is an expert in international trade and negotiations, internationalization of companies, knowledge economy and electronic commerce. She has 17 years of experience in consulting, teaching and research and is the author of numerous publications.

This virtual seminar will address from fundamental concepts and characteristics of KBS, the main trends of the global market in this type of services, as well as the challenges and restrictions which, through exchange of ideas and best practices at the regional level, can be overcome for their better use, thus favouring greater dynamism in international trade in the region.
